We work hard as moms. We have a wonderful responsibility to help care for and shape these amazing little people we have been blessed with. At times the job of Mom can be exhausting, too. During nap time and after the kids go to bed, I often keep working on all the other tasks that need to be done, not taking enough time to rest. Sometimes as moms we just need a few moments to ourselves to relax. When you feel a little stressed, these 10 simple ideas to relax as a busy mom can help you take a moment to unwind.
Ideas to Relax as a Busy Mom
1. Enjoy a mug of coffee or tea
Sometimes it’s nice just to have a nice mug of your favorite warm drink. I love drinking chai tea. Just breathing in the spicy scent is so relaxing. Take that moment just for you.
2. Talk with a girlfriend
Spend some time talking with a friend, either in person or on the phone. It’s nice to have another adult to talk to and share life with.
3. Read a good book
It can be so relaxing to curl up on the couch or in a big comfy chair with a great book. Let yourself be sucked into the story and enjoy the read.
4. Paint your nails
Pick out a pretty color and get to painting. It’s amazing how such a seemingly small thing can make you feel so nice. I love painting my nails a beautiful color (or two!). And since you have to wait for them to dry, you have to take a little while to just relax.
5. Listen to your favorite music
Spend a little time listening to your favorite songs. Feel free to dance along to the beat, no judgement here.
Have your husband watch the kids while you enjoy a fun workout class. Get moving and grooving to keep your body healthy and clear your mind of any stress.
7. Light a candle
Choose your favorite scented candle and enjoy the lovely smell with a smile. Just make sure it’s far out of reach of little hands.
8. Take a bubble bath
Bubbles! Pour in some of your favorite scented bubble bath and climb in. The warm water will help to relax your body while the bubbles and scent soothe you.
9. Bake yourself a treat
Cookies, cinnamon swirl bread… find a delicious looking recipe and bake something yummy for yourself. Preferably something with chocolate, I’m just saying…
10. Watch your favorite movie
It’s nice in the evening to watch something that’s just for you. No cartoons allowed.
