I love crochet. I tried knitting before but just adore the designs you can make with just one little crochet hook. I find so many things to crochet during the winter months, like hats, scarves, and blankets. But I just don’t need those things during the summer. So my crochet habit tends to take a bit of a break during the warmer season. One thing I love to crochet any time of year is fun little decorations, like these stars. So I created the tricolor crochet star pattern to share the fun with you!
These little crochet stars whip up pretty fast in whatever colors you choose, and they would make a beautiful star garland. I used red, white, and blue but you could use any colors you wanted to make them match your decor or seasonal theme.
This is the first pattern I have written, and I hope you find it easy to follow. To follow the Tricolor Crochet Star Pattern, you need to be able to crochet in the round starting with a magic ring (I chose to start with a magic ring so there isn’t a hole in the middle of each star). I took pictures of the process and have included them with each step of the pattern. Happy crocheting!
Tricolor Crochet Star Pattern
- Worsted weight yarn in 3 colors
- Size J (6 mm) crochet hook
- Yarn needle
dc = double crochet
ch = chain
sl st = slip stitch
In color 1, start with a magic ring. In magic ring, chain 2 (the chain in this round doesn’t count as a stitch) and dc 10. Join to top of 1st dc with a sl st (skip chain). Pull magic ring closed. (10 stitches total)
Switch to color 2. Chain 2 (the chain counts as a stitch in this round), then 2 dc in each stitch around. Join to top of chain with sl st. (20 stitches total)
Switch to color 3, connecting it with a sl st. **skip 1, dc in next stitch 5x, skip 1, sl st in next stitch.** Repeat from ** 4 more times (5x total for 5 points of star). On last stitch of round join to original sl st (where you started color 3) & bind off. Weave in ends with a yarn needle.
These little tricolor crochet stars are seriously cute and would make a great decoration. I’m seeing a crochet star garland in my future… I hope you enjoyed the Tricolor Crochet Star Pattern – have fun crocheting these little lovelies!
How do you plan to use the tricolor crochet stars?
